What’s the appeal?
Apparently the word is out. People are flocking to the Cary/Raleigh area. In fact, the good folks at the Census Bureau say it’s the 18th fastest growing area in the whole country.
What’s so appealing? Well … the two main reasons: jobs and affordable housing. While $600,000 buys just a small fixer upper in the Virginia suburbs, it buys a brand new decked out huge home with a big yard in Cary/Raleigh. And while many New York residents routinely pay around $12,000 to 17,000 per year in taxes, Cary/Raleigh residents pay roughly 1/10th of that. Further more Cary real estate has historically enjoyed and slow and steady 3-5 percent property appreciation per year.
Forbes has voted the area a runner up for the last three years and this year has voted Cary/Raleigh the number one best Place for Business and Careers. And while were on the topic, lets not forget Cary being voted #5 best place to live in the whole country by Money magazine.
In addition to these main ingredients to Cary’s most appealing recipe, add a splash of great schools excellent health care, low crime, and mild weather to the mix. Cary is part of the superb Wake County school system and many of the best schools in the county are found in Cary, NC.
Cary, North Carolina is the seventh safest city in the whole county. Perhaps the religious influence of the Bible belt or perhaps the triangles distinction of having more PhD’s per capita. Either way families feel safe in Cary’s streets and parks.
With Rex, Wake and Duke Hospitals close by residents enjoy some of the finest health care in the nation. And lastly, most are quite fond of the weather here. While summers can be quite hot and sticky, winters are very mild and spring and fall are long and lovely.
If you are considering relocating to the Cary/Raleigh area I, Michael Mclaughlin of Keller Williams, would be glad to answer any questions you may have or help you select your cary dream home in the Cary area.
